Kansas Lawmakers Support Federal AM For Every Vehicle Act

Kansas lawmakers are making a significant show of support for keeping AM radio in vehicles.

Last week, the Kansas House passed a resolution endorsing the AM for Every Vehicle Act that is working its way through the U.S. Capitol.

State Representative Ron Bryce says this resolution represents a bipartisan show of support to Washington.

U.S. Senator Jerry Moran says the attempt by automobile manufacturers to eliminate AM radio from vehicles would be especially harmful to those in rural areas who rely on AM, which can reach further than FM broadcasting. Moran is a sponsor of the bill and says the main point is to ensure continued access to local journalism and emergency information.

Currently, the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act has 226 co-sponsors in the US House and 48 in the Senate.
