The Baxter Springs Fire Department is one of six Kansas Law Enforcement and First Responders Agencies set to receive federal funding.
The Fiscal Year 2023 House Appropriations Package passed in the US House yesterday, awarding more than $2.6 million in federal funding for Kansas agencies. Of those funds, the Baxter Springs Fire Department will receive $1 million to build a new fire station. Congressman Jake LaTurner, who serves on the House Appropriations Committee, says the funds will deliver crucial resources to help first responders keep our streets safe.
Other Kansas municipalities receiving funding include Shawnee County, Wyandotte County,Junction City, Leavenworth, and Kansas City.
