Construction on the new Central Park Sports Complex is progressing in Independence and the city has extended the deadline for purchasing a commemorative brick.
Independence Chamber President Lisa Wilson says it's a great way to show support for the community and leave a lasting legacy .
The new Sports Complex will include renovated baseball fields while adding a new soccer field, pickle ball courts, walking trails, and many other features. The complex is expected to cost nearly $11 million and is paid for in large part through grant funding. The Donor Plaza Brick Campaign is a way for everyone to help in an affordable way. Wilson says purchasing a brick is very easy.
The final products will be displayed in a prominent location in the new sports complex when construction is complete.
