KS Crop Forecast Down, Corn in Lead

 

Corn is coming out on top in this year's crop forecast.

 

According to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service, the value of Kansas’s 2023 field and miscellaneous crops is forecast at $7.76 billion, which is is down 17% from 2022. The value of corn production is expected to total $3 billion, down 16% from the previous marketing year. The price of Kansas corn is projected to average $4.90 per bushel, down more than $2 from the last marketing year. The value of soybean production is expected to total $1.32 billion, down 29% from the previous marketing year. Soybeans are projected to average more than $12 per bushel, down $1.70 from the last marketing year. The value of winter wheat production is expected to total $1.51 billion, down 29% from the previous year at $7.50 per bushel, down more than $1 from the last marketing year.
