State Wrestling Results: Wrestlers From Chanute, Howard, and Fort Scott Take Home State Titles

 High school wrestling wraps up this weekend with the State Boys and Girls Tournaments in Salina.

 Area wrestlers made a solid showing at the state tournament as Creyo Koop (Boys 165) of Howard-West Elk, Kenna Miles (Girls 110) of Fort Scott, and Reese Clements (Girls 135) and Kiley Dillow (Girls 170) both of Chanute take home State Titles. Emma Hall of Coffeyville-Field Kindley placed 2nd at 105 pounds while Layla Tindle of Fredonia placed 3rd in the 115 weight class.

 

Top placers in the Boys tournament include Kohen Wright of Independence taking 2nd at 138, Mason Gibbons, also from Indy, placed 3rd at 113, while Coffeyville-Field Kindley’s Kainen White took 3rd in the 285 pound weight class.

 

4A Medal Winners:

At 138 pounds, Kohen Wright of Independence took 2nd place after being pinned by Rose Hill’s Damon Ingram.

Mason Gibbons of Independence placed 3rd in the 113 pound weight class with a 4-2 decision over Trenton Richwine of Rose Hill.

At 285, Coffeyville-Field Kindley’s Kainen White takes home 3rd place honors, defeating Jaden Garcia of Fort Scott 2-0.

Mason Obanion – Columbus: 4th, 175

Medal Winners:

Creyo Koop of Howard-West Elk defeated Teagan Pfeifer of Russell 12-2 to win the State Title at 165.

Landen Kmiec – Erie: 6th, 132

Cole Mathes – Humboldt: 5th, 175

 

Girls 4-3-2-1A

 

Medal Winners:

Fort Scott’s Kenna Miles takes home a State Championship Title, defeating Kinzie Rogers of Cottonwood Falls-Chase County in an 8-5 decision in the 110 pound weight class.

Reece Clements of Chanute at 135 defeats Jailynn Taylor of Paola 10-1 to win the State Championship title.

Emma Hall of Coffeyville-Field Kindley took 2nd at 105, losing by pin to Harper Holmes of Frontenac.

Layla Tindle of Fredonia took 3rd place defeating Keera Lacock of Rossville in a 7-2 decision at 115.

From Chanute, Kadynce Axelson in the 120 pound weight class defeated Adrian Wynn of Wakeeney by pin to take 3rd.

Brooklyn Lima of Columbus defeated Nora Prather of Baldwin to take 3rd at 140.

Another Columbus wrestler Madelyn Garcia defeated Macey Parks of Buhler 2-1 to place 3rd at 145.

In the 170 weight class, Kiley Dillow of Chanute has not yet wrestled in her title match while Taylor Plumley defeated Hannah Simmers of Effingham-Atchison 9-5 to capture 3rd place.

Zoey Kessler – Cherryvale: 4th, 125

Lyndsey Escareno – Eureka: 6th, 140

Kara Pope – Girard: 4th, 190
