The Independence Police Department has arrested 49-year-old Mathew Benjamin Whitaker on charges of possession of stolen property and driving while suspended.
The arrest stems from a reported auto theft south of Independence on January 23rd. The vehicle was seen traveling north shortly after. IPD officers located the stolen vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.
Whitaker was arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Department of Corrections on charges of possession of stolen property and driving while suspended. He was granted a $3,000 bond with bond supervision and remains in custody.
