Fredonia City Commission Takes Steps to Combat Blight in City

 The Fredonia City Commission makes good on its promise to combat blight in the city.

 At their January 19 meeting, the Fredonia City Commission promised citizens to take steps to combat blight in the city by taking care of abandoned and dilapidated houses. At last night's (Wednesday's) meeting, they took definite steps toward keeping that promise. The main part of the agenda was to begin condemnation proceedings against several houses. Mayor Allen Miller read the resolutions and Commissioner Brandon Tindle made the motions.

The commission repeated those steps 26 times. City Administrator Wes Young says the commissions actions should improve the city.

Young also expressed his appreciation for Duste O'Dell for her work in the Code Enforcement department. The next Fredonia City Commission meeting will be held on February 21st .

The address of the houses in question are as follows: 217 N 16th, 219 N 13th, 223 N 13th, 232 N 13th, 233 N 13th, 324 N 9th, 403 S 8th, 405 S 8th, 420 S 8th, 501 Harrison, 503 Harrison, 524 Harrison, 903 N 6th, 1121 N 4th, 1230 Washington, 115 N 4th, 226 N 14th, 303 N 11th, 311, Harrison, 311 Tyler, 424 Harrison, 713 N 5th, and 1302 N 2nd.

No action was takne on the house at 603 N 5th because it is in probate. The commission will reexamine taking action on this property on March 20.
