A Parsons man and multi-time convicted felon is arrested after a brief standoff at a Dollar Tree.

At around 12:30pm, Parsons Police officers were trying to locate 51-year-old Jason Purdy on multiple active arrest warrants. Thanks to multiple reports officers located him inside a Dollar Tree. Upon officers arrival, Purdy locked himself inside the store's restroom and told officers that he was armed with a knife. After a short negotiation process and obtaining keys from the manager, officers successfully arrested Purdy without incident or injury.

Purdy was in possession of controlled substances, attempted to hide evidence, which officers located in the restroom and later admitted to destroying evidence before officers got into the restroom. Purdy was not in possession of any weapon at the time of his arrest. Purdy is currently in custody on several additional charges on top of the active warrants.
