Columbus School Vehicle Involved in Accident Near Cherokee

 A USD 493 Columbus School Van was involved in an injury accident yesterday near Cherokee, KS.

 The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating the accident that occurred around 7:45 yesterday morning when a 2019 Chevy Express cargo van belonging to the Columbus School district was driving eastbound on US 400. As the vehicle approached the intersection with K-7, a 2016 Chevy Silverado truck driven by 51 year old Corey Hunter of Firestone, Colorado, failed to yield at a stop sign and struck the school vehicle. One passenger on the bus, 51 year old Michelle Robinson of Columbus, sustained serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. There were also six juveniles on the bus, some of whom were treatment for minor, non life threatening injuries. Hunter was uninjured is in the accident.
