Changes To Fredonia Recycling Program A Success

The new changes to the recycling program in Fredonia shows good results.

The Fredonia City Commission discontinued recycling pick up in the city in December on a trial basis in order to create a more efficient program and save on operating costs. Instead of having their recycling picked up at their homes, Fredonia residents were asked to drop off their materials at the city recycling center. At last night’s (Wednesday night’s) city commission meeting, City Administrator Wesley Young told the commission the program seems to be a great success.

Young told commissioners that the new program has made money for the city. Commissioner Bill Jones says he has heard a positive response from residents.

Other business at this week’s meeting included a presentation on insurance for city employees, end-of-year reports from department heads, and approval of a measure to implement performance-based bonuses for city employees. The next Fredonia city commission meeting will be held on February 7th
