A City of Caney employee passes away.

 Caney is reporting the death of Chad W. Johnson, who passed away Monday night. Johnson has been with the City since July 2022. He served as the sewer apprentice and as a volunteer firefighter.

 City Administrator Kelley Zellner says he was known for always having a smile on his face, even when things were going rough.

 Caney closed their city offices and the Caney Market yesterday to allow staff a moment to grieve the loss of a friend.

 During the regular session of the Caney City Council last night, the council voted to donate a cemetery plot to the Johnson family. A public memorial service will be held for Johnson, and a memorial fund for his children is in the process of being established.
