Bella Vista Man Arrested After Bombs Found In Home

A Bella Vista, Arkansas man has been arrested after police find six homemade pipe bombs in his home.

52-year-old Lawrence Hickman was arrested last week on six counts of criminal possession of explosive materials or a destructive device.

Court documents say the bombs were found when law enforcement officers came to his Bella Vista home to question him about a harassment complaint. The pipe bombs were X-rayed and found to be live.

Court documents also said that Hickman wanted to relocate to the Philippines, where he said his new wife lived, and planned to start the journey by kayaking through the Bering Sea. Investigators were told that the pipe bombs were for defense against sharks and pirates.

Hickman was arrested at a pier in Washington state. He had two inflatable kayaks with him.

He is being held at the Benton County Jail on $1 million bond.
