The Afton, Oklahoma, Board of Trustees voted to terminate their office manager and treasurer of the board.
In an executive session, and by a 3 to 2 vote, Rebecca Collins’ employment with the community was terminated, in what officials say is for the “good of service” for the position.
Collins was questioned by some members of the community for what they call questionable bookkeeping practices. Collins says the problems come from a lack of organization.
An investigation by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation took place before the Christmas holiday. City offices were shut down December 21st, and are set to reopen today. No items were seized; no arrests have been made and no charges have been filed.
The investigation is ongoing.
