Just in time for Christmas, the Kansas Department of Transportation announces the reopening of U.S. 169 near Thayer.

This seven-mile stretch of highway, which has been closed since July, is expected to reopen by late afternoon today. Upgrades done include the addition of passing lanes and the replacement of the mainline pavement. While the work continues drivers are reminded to be cautious around construction and to follow speed limits.
