Windshield Glare Likely To Be Cause of Fatal Crash

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says windshield glare is likely the cause of a fatal crash late last week in Delaware County, Oklahoma.

The OHP says the crash happened Friday around 6:49 pm., about two and a half miles north of Jay. A Pontiac Grand Am was traveling south on US-59, just north of East 365 Road when headlights hit the windshield. The vehicle then drifted off the roadway to the right, spun out and hit a tree.

21-year-old Riley Phelan, of Salina, OK, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 19-year-old passenger was treated at Grove Integris Hospital and released.

 The investigation is ongoing.
