A report of a man threatening his wife Wednesday proves to be false.

 According to Allen County Sheriff Bryan Murphy, deputies were dispatched to a residence in Gas early Wednesday evening in response to a call of a man threatening his wife with a gun. An update received a few minutes later indicated the man was allegedly holding his wife hostage at gunpoint, threatening to kill her.

 No signs of trouble were found as officers arrived, including Sheriff Murphy. Murphy says the call originated from the woman's mother in Sacramento, California. The report indicates disapproval of the woman's son-in-law.

 Murphy says no one was in danger, and charges against the woman in California are possible.
