Grant Application Period Opens Soon for OK Communities Along Route 66

The application period for the Oklahoma Route 66 Grant Program will open this Friday (December 15).

The grant program will make $6.6 million in funding available to municipalities, non-profits and government entities located along Historic Route 66 in Oklahoma.

To be eligible for funding, projects must be used to support historic preservation or promote economic development along Route 66. Projects may be used for capital investments and for a very small number of promotional purposes.

Oversight for the grant program comes from the Oklahoma Route 66 Commission and was created by the Oklahoma legislature to revitalize and restore Oklahoma's historic stretch of Route 66. Route 66 in Oklahoma stretches from Miami to Oklahoma City and includes the towns of Afton, Vinita, Claremore, and Catoosa.
