Coffeyville Tag Office To Reopen in January

There's good news for residents of the southern part of Montgomery County.

After the first of the year, they will no longer have to go to Independence to visit the tag office.

The Coffeyville Tag Office has been closed since September due to a staffing shortage. County Treasurer Nancy Clubine tells the Montgomery County Commission that new staff have been hired and trained, so the tag office in Coffeyville will be reopening on January 2nd.

Clubine reminds residents that the tag office hours in Independence and at the Coffeyville office when it reopens, are from 8am to 4pm. Anyone needing title work will need to arrive before 3pm.

In other business at today's (yesterday's) commission meeting, Public Works director Jim Wright asked the commission to cancel a bid for a pick up truck awarded to Tom Davis Chevrolet in October of 2022 for lack of delivery of the vehicle. Ha also asked the commission to reopen the bid process. The commission directed Wright to notify the dealership via a letter before proceeding. Commissioners also conducted two executive sessions. No action was taken on either.

The next meeting of the Montgomery County Commission will be next Monday at 9am in the lower level of the judicial center in Independence. The meeting is open to the public.
