Organizations in Howard, Iola, Fredonia, and Pittsburg receive funding from the state to identify and help children exposed to drugs.
Governor Laura Kelly has announced $2 million in grant to 18 Kansas service agencies from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the Kansas Alliance for Drug Endangered Children. Nearly 150,000 Kansas children live in environments where their parent or caregiver uses substances which leaves them at risk of severe neglect, abuse, and developmental delays.
$110,00 went to the Elk County Sheriff's Department in Howard, $130,000 to the Wilson County Health Department in Fredonia, $111,000 for Thrive-Allen County in Iola, and $80,000 to Live Well-Crawford County in Pittsburg.
