Neodesha Hires Embattled Marion City Administrator

Neodesha has a new city administrator.

At their most recent city commission meeting, Neodesha Mayor Devin Johnson announced the hiring of Brogan Jones as the new city administrator.

Jones has been hired at a salary of $90,000 a year, $15,000 more than his former position. Brogan Jones comes to Neodesha after resigning as city administrator in Marion, KS. Jones left his position in Marion following a November 13 council meeting where he faced sharp criticism for his role in the August 11 raid on the offices of the Marion County Record newsroom and the home of Record owner Eric Meyer. At issue was Jones sharing an email from council member Ruth Herbel that included information about a DUI incurred by a local restaurant owner. Herbel said the email was not to be shared, but Jones forwarded the email to the rest of the city council after being told to do so by Mayor David Mayfiled.

The city of Neodesha has been in search of a new city administrator since the departure of Ed Truelove in September. Jones replaces interim administrator Mark McAnarney.
