The Baxter Springs Police Department tells residents that they are under police protection.

 In a Facebook post made yesterday (Tuesday), the department addressed rumors that there was 24 hour police coverage in the city. The post stated that this rumor was not true and that there is an officer on duty 24 hours a day to serve the people of Baxter Springs. The post went on to explain that the Baxter Springs Police do contract their dispatch services through the Cherokee County Sheriff's office and that they have a close working relationship with that Department.
