Harvest is finished for several summer crops.
According to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service, 98% of corn has been harvested in Southeast Kansas. Statewide, 89% of the crop has been harvested in both Kansas and Oklahoma. In Kansas, 80% of soybeans have been harvested, while 47% have been harvested in Oklahoma, which is above the five-year average.
Winter wheat has seen good progress, with 83% planted in Southeast Kansas and 68% emerged. The percentage of wheat planted in southeast Kansas still lags the statewide average of 91%, but percentage emerged is more on track.
Topsoil and subsoil moisture continues to be a problem, with 63% of topsoil moisture supplies rated short or very short and 73% of subsoil moisture rated short to very short in Kansas.
