Cattle on feed in Kansas is up 6% when compared with last year.

That's according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Kansas feedlots with capacities of 1,000 or more head contained 2.50 million cattle on feed on October 1st. This inventory was up 6% from last year. Placements during September totaled 505,000 head, up 13% from 2022. Fed cattle marketings for the month of September totaled 405,000 head, down 11% from last year. Other disappearances during September totaled 10,000 head, unchanged from last year.
