Fredonia City Commission Approves Funds for New Police Car

Fredonia City Commissioners approve a new purchase for city law enforcement.

At last night's Fredonia city Commission meeting, commissioners heard quarterly department head reports from various areas in the city government. Chief of Police Brad Pfluger reported on the number of arrests that had been made in the city and on the search for a new Student Resource Officer for Fredonia Jr/Sr High. And, while making his report, Plfuger made a request of the commission:

Pfluger suggested that by purchasing another police car the city could re-purpose one of the existing cars in the fleet to replace the vehicle currently used by Code Enforcement. Commissioners agreed and approved $20,000 for the purchase of a nearly-new police cruiser. Pfluger estimates that this purchase would save the city nearly $40,000 over the purchase of a new vehicle.

In other business before the Fredonia City Commission, street closures were approved for Trunk or Treat on October 31st , for the Christmas Parade on December 2nd , and for the FCCLA Crash Simulation at the High School on October 26th . The other major issue before the commission – changes to a city ordinance regarding late penalties to utility accounts – was tabled until the November 1st meeting due to the absence of Commissioner Brandon Tindle at last night's meeting.
