Blizzard Sentenced in 2020 Double Homicide

 

The second of two suspects in a 2020 double homicide in Cherokee County receives sentencing.

 

32-year-old Kimberly Blizzard, of McCune, was given a 330-month sentence in Cherokee County District Court after pleading guilty to two counts of second-degree intentional murder. On the morning of Sunday, June 14th, 2020, Cherokee County Sheriff's investigators and Kansas Bureau of Investigation agents responded to a rural area north of Columbus, after the bodies of Blaze Swank and Kylan Shook were discovered.

 

The following day law enforcement located and apprehended Mark Hopkins II for his role in the murders. On Tuesday, June 16th, 2020, Blizzard was taken into custody in connection with the case. In December, 2021, Hopkins was sentenced to life imprisonment.
