Twelve area colleges are set to meet on Thursday to discuss the unique needs of military-affiliated
students.
The 2nd Annual Veteran Student Services Providers Symposium will be held in Chanute on the campus of Neosho County Community College. Event organizer Tommy Ellis who serves as the Director of Veteran Student Success at Independence Community College says the symposium came about to help the schools improve the college experience for veteran students.
There will be speakers from the Veterans Administration and the US Department of Education at the event. Representatives from area community colleges from Independence, Coffeyville, Iola, Chanute, Parsons, Ark City, El Dorado, and Fort Scott are expected to attend as well as those from Pittsburg State, Emporia State, and Southwestern College in Winfield.
