Downtown Cherryvale Building May Be Torn Down

The building next to City Hall in Cherryvale may eventually have to be torn down.

That was the consensus at last night's Cherryvale City Council Meeting, during which council members met as the Cherryvale Land Bank to discuss the proposed donation of the building next to city hall from Brad Bowman. According to City Administrator Jonathan Booe, the building was probably built in the mid-1800s and is in poor shape.

Some were frustrated with the potential of the city and taxpayers being stuck with the cleanup bill, but Council Member Norman Johnson says either route will probably lead to the same conclusion.

The topic was tabled and the regular council meeting continued with the approval of the Veterans Day Parade on Friday, November 10th. Resolutions were approved concerning two dangerous structures. Council members also had an open discussion on a potential new provider for the city's website.
