Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrests in Montgomery County

A pair of area teens are arrested on drug charges.

On Tuesday evening, Montgomery County sheriff's deputies stopped a 2015v Volkswagon Passat for a stop sign violation. During the traffic stop, deputies noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search of the car revealed marijuana, nearly 1000 fentanyl pills, drug paraphernalia, and an amount of cash.

Both the driver 18 year old Trinity Schlegel of Neodesha, and the passenger 18 year old Quaylan Johnson of Independence, were taken into custody. They were transported to the Montgomery County Jail and booked on the recommended charges of distribution of opiates, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The case will be referred to the Montgomery County Attorney’s Office for proper charging.
