City of Independence Remains Under Water Warning

The City of Independence reminds residents that due to the continued drought conditions, the city remains under a water warning.

The city says water continues to be available for use with 21,000 acre feet of water in storage. However, last week's rainfall was only five hundredths of an inch (.05”) and there is little to no rain in the near term forecast.

Residents are asked to continue conservation efforts which include limiting outdoor watering to hand-held hoses and buckets and limiting outdoor water use to hours before 10am and after 9pm. Residents with odd numbered addresses should water lawns on odd numbered days and those with even numbered address should only water on even numbered days. Golf course watering is limited to tees and greens according to these restrictions. Excess water charges for consumption above winter levels will be considered. Wasting of water is prohibited and potential penalties may be enforced.

The city thanks residents for their continued cooperation and appreciates your efforts to save water.
