The City of Coffeyville is adding fencing on the sidewalks of 9th Street.
The City says this is for public safety. The fencing has been placed around the sidewalks on the south side of 9th Street. When the decking was removed as part of the awning removal process, additional safety concerns such as loose brick and collapsing columns were identified. In an effort to protect the public, these areas will remain fenced until all structural issues have been addressed and the area is deemed safe.
The City is working with property owners to resolve the issues quickly. Fencing has been set up so 9th Street can be utilized as an emergency exit and business occupancy loads will not be affected.
