The death of an inmate at the Lansing Correctional Facility is under investigation by the KBI.

 40 year old Michael Aineta was pronounced dead yesterday afternoon after being transported to KU Medical Center. The cause of death is pending the results of an independent autopsy. When an inmate dies in custody of the Kansas Department of Corrections, the death is investigated by the K-D-O-C and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

Aineta was serving a 90 month sentence for a rape conviction in Seward County. The investigation remains ongoing.
