A Joplin man has been charged in an event stemming from a youth football game.

 61 year old Doug Rector has been charged with 4^th degree assault after he allegedly shoved a 4^th grader during a youth football game in Carthage last month. Video of the game in which Rector was a referee, shows a player running into an official who then pushes the player to the ground. The game was played as a part of the Southwest Football Conference which gave Rector a one week suspension after the incident. 4^th degree assault is a misdemeanor offense. No court date has been set.
