As the regional drought continues, city leaders of Caney continue to look at every option to fix the town's water issues.
City Administrator Kelley Zellner says he and his office continue applying for federal and state grants to help offset the cost of the multi-year project that would eventually end the use of the water treatment plant and bring in potable water to the town.
With over nine million dollars in grant funding already applied for, and with more applications in the works, Zellner says state organizations are seeing the great need for the Caney area. He says the town mindset must be toward the future, not just the present.
In other business, the council approved the Fourth and Live concert event in downtown Caney for Friday, May 24th, 2024, and set the fall City-Wide clean dates for October 16th through the 21st.
