Burglary Victim Fights Back, Leaves Attacker in Hospital

 A burglary victim in Joplin turns the tables on his attacker and leaves the suspect with serious injuries.

 Early yesterday morning, Joplin police responded to the report of a burglary at a residence near 11th and Moffet street. An adult female had called 911 to report that her ex boyfriend and an accomplice had broken into her home and assaulted her boyfriend. During the attack, the victim retrieved a knife and used it to defend himself , injuring one of the suspects. 

Both suspects fled the scene in one vehicle, which later dropped off the injured man at Freeman West Hospital. 

The injured suspect has been identified as 31 year old Alexander E. Freer who is currently under police guard and in critical condition at the hospital. He has been charged with Burglary in the 1st Degree and Assault in the 3rd Degree. 

The second suspect was taken into custody around noon on Monday. The names of the victims have not been released. Authorities have requested that anyone with information on this case, contact Detective Rawlins at 417-623-3131.
