Crews in Coffeyville are hard at work removing the awnings from buildings along 9th street.
Coffeyville Chamber of Commerce President Candi Westbrook says that while the work is underway, things my be a bit of a mess, but it will be worth it for the final result.
With the construction work in progress, residents may not be able to drive down 9th street, but downtown business are still open and accessible to the public. After the removal of the awnings, the next stage of construction will happen in October.
