Local golfers take to the links for a good cause.
The 9th Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser to support Spark Wheel happens Friday in Independence. Golfers will have the chance to play a four-person scramble at one of the oldest courses in the state at Independence Country Club. Registration is $100 per player and includes golf, a golf cart, lunch, a tournament gift, refreshments and an awards ceremony. Prizes will be given to top team finishers and other accomplishments. The event begins at 8am Friday with a shotgun start. Pre-registration is not necessary but it will help organizers plan for food and the number of carts. The tournament benefits Spark Wheel, a non-profit organization that helps students who face daunting obstacles with limited resources reach their full potential.
