Elder Abuse Arrest in Dewey

 A Dewey woman is being charged elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation contrary to Oklahoma State Statute.

 Ashley Hamblin appeared yesterday in Washington County Court on those alleged charges from 2022. According to an affidavit, a welfare check was done in December 2022 on the alleged victim which resulted in the discovery of the following: The victim had health issues, communication problems, mobility, and dexterity issues due to a past stroke.

The allegation of exploitation was substantiated according in the police report, which states that Hamblin had checks written to her from the victim over the past two years that totaled more than $17,000. There were also signs of neglect of the victim due to appearing “filthy and malnourished.” Affidavit also states that Hamblin and her husband were living in the victim’s home under their name.

The victim was moved out of the home and into protective custody after it appeared that the victim had not been cared The victim would suffer another stroke at the hospital in December.

Hamblin was given a court date of September 8th and her bond was set at $25,000.
