The meetings of the Johnson-O'Malley and the Title VI Indian Education Parent Committee are coming up the first week of September.
The meetings will be on Wednesday, September 6th in the Field Kindley High School Library. The JOM meeting is at 6:00pm, followed by the Title VI parent meeting at 6:30pm. The mission of Indian Education is to support the efforts of local educational agencies, Indian tribes and organizations, and other entities to meet the unique education and culturally related academic needs of American Indians.
One of the most important components of both JOM and Title VI Programs is parent involvement. To serve on either parent committee, a person must be the parent or guardian of a Title VI or JOM verified child. School board members, school administrators, school employees, and Cherokee Nation personnel with signature authority over Title VI contracts or any of their spouses are not eligible to serve.
