Excessive heat continues across the listening area today with high temperatures in the triples digits once again with little to no chance for rain until Saturday.

 The high today in Coffeyville is 102 with a heat index of 108. The excessive heat warning for southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri has been extended through 10pm on Friday night. The excessive heat warning for north east Oklahoma is in effect from 11am until 8pm tonight. For those who must be outside, take precautions to stay safe from the heat, which includes drinking plenty of water, wearing loose-fitting clothes, and staying in the shade when possible. Limit outdoor activities or move them to early morning or evening if possible.
