Flock Cameras Proving Beneficial For Caney PD

As the use of FLOCK cameras increase nationwide, the Caney Police Department triples the number of cameras around town under their control.

The Caney City Council approved the purchase of two new cameras and a five year contract for all cameras during last night's meeting. FLOCK cameras help law enforcement by providing picture evidence like license plates and vehicle characteristics, but not people or faces. Chief Ike Dye says the cameras will help law enforcement agencies locally and regionally.

Dye says only a certain amount of police personnel have access to the camera's information.

The initial costs for the cameras and five year contract is just under $9,000, with an annual cost of $7,500 for the remaining four years.
