Independence Community College has a new student group on campus.

 

ICC's new chapter of Student Veterans of America held its first meeting of the new school year last week. Club Advisor Leah Delamarter says the purpose of the club is to raise campus awareness of veterans issues and military culture. 

 

The club has elected their first slate of officers at their first meeting. Delamarter says these students are excited about the new program. The ICC chapter of SVA is currently working on some fundraising activities as well as creating a free leave-a-book, take-a-book library on campus and one in downtown Independence.
