Milk production and number of head in Kansas is down slightly this summer.

According to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service, milk production in Kansas during July totaled 340 million pounds, which is down 2% from July of 2022. The average number of milk cows was 171,000 head, 3,000 head less than July 2022. Milk production per cow averaged 1,990 pounds.
