One Injured After Being Hit by Train

A Wagoner man is injured after being hit by a train in Mayes County.

The injury collision happened late last week about two miles south of Maize, Oklahoma. A 2001 Dodge Ram, driven by 70-year-old Stephen Atchley, was eastbound crossing the train tracks. A Union Pacific Railroad train was northbound, including three engines and seven cars. The Ram failed to yield and was struck by the train.

Atchley was transported by Survival Group life flight to St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa. He was admitted in guarded condition with head and internal injuries. No one on the train was injured.
