Cold War Missile Section Comes Through Coffeyville

A piece of America's largest nuclear missile came through Coffeyville yesterday.

Owner GT Hill purchased the missile section from a Wichita scrap yard yesterday and explains what the part is.

Eighteen Titan II missile silos were built around Tucson, Arizona, Little Rock, Arkansas and Wichita, Kansas and operated from the early 1960s until the 1980s. These silos housed the largest nuclear warheads the U.S. ever built. Hill owns one of the sites in Arkansas that he's turned into an event center and destination for overnight stays. Hill was recently one of 100 worldwide winners awarded $100,000 to build another unique Airbnb, and says this missile part is critical to the authenticity of the project.

The replica missile will be built to the original scale at 103 feet long and 10 feet in diameter. Hill hopes to have the project completed early next year. More information about the project and Titan Ranch is available here.  A link to videos on the progress can be found here.
