Stage 2 Water Warning for Coffeyville

The City of Coffeyville is now under a Stage 2 Water Warning.

The city commission approved the resolution at last week's meeting and the water warning went into effect over the weekend. The City of Coffeyville has a water purchase contract with the state of Kansas for three hundred million gallons of water from Elk City Reservoir. So far, Coffeyville has used about ninety three million gallons of that water. The purpose of the Stage 2 water warning is to reduce peak demand for water by 20 percent and overall weekly usage by 10 percent. Residents can do their part by limiting outdoor water use to morning and late evening hours, only refilling swimming pools once a week after sunset, and generally taking steps to use less water, such as shorter showers and not leaving the faucet running when brushing teeth. The city will monitor water usage levels and keep the public informed on the situation.
