A Galena man is arrested after firing multiple shots into a neighbor's home.

At 7:45pm Wednesday evening, Galena Police officers were notified of a gun being fired in the area of 820 Bellevue Street. Upon arrival, officers found a man at the back of the residence holding a shotgun and staring out the kitchen window. Officers ordered the subject to drop the weapon and he complied with the commands. Once the subject was secured, officers found the neighboring residence had multiple shots through the window, door, and siding. No one was home at the time of the shots being fired.

The subject was identified as 50-year-old Brian M. Smith. He is facing charges of attempted aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. This is an ongoing investigation and additional charges may be submitted.
