Independence City Commission To Consider E-V Chargers Downtown

The Independence City Commission is set to begin considering proposals to install two chargers for electric vehicles in a downtown parking lot. Main Street Economic Vitality Committee member Lori Kelly proposed the issue at last night's meeting. Kelly says the chargers would be part of an effort to increase interest in the downtown area. The Commission approved a measure that would allow the city to consider proposals for the potential installation and to look into possible grant money to cover the costs. The chargers would be located in the parking lot at 6th and Laurel in Independence. Other business passed by the commission included an additional construction costs to complete the renovation of city hall, the decision to design a renovation of a downtown parking lot, and to repair three intersections in town.
