Caney Water Solution a Long Process

The move to join a consolidated water district continues in the city of Caney.

City leaders call the movement of the project bureaucratic speed, but say steps are taking place for the eventual replacement of the water treatment facility. City Administrator Kelley Zellner says he understands the frustration the pace of the project is bringing, but adds that this is normal when multiple agencies work on this type of town altering project.

Zellner says history has brought to light the inadequacies of the current water system and water plant, and it's showing how valuable water really is to communities, not just in Caney, but in all of Southeast Kansas.

Zellner says the move to the consolidated water district will alleviate any current water problems the city has, supply wise, and will help the town as it continues to work on infrastructure and housing improvements for future growth.
