Residents of Independence are set to celebrate.

 Thursday night night is the annual Indy Goes Back to School Celebration. Chamber of Commerce President Lisa Wilson says there will be lots of activities for the whole family. Students can also get a free backpack of school supplies collected by Stuff the Bus. Backpacks will be available on a first come, first served basis. Other activities will include games, free entertainment, exhibits, prizes and giveaways, and activities for the entire family. All students, parents, staff, and community members are invited to attend.
