Fiber Internet Under Consideration in Cherryvale

Cherryvale residents may eventually have easy access to high-speed fiber internet.

At its meeting last night, the Cherryvale City Council heard a proposal from KwiKom Business Development Manager John Terry regarding making fiber optic internet available to residents in Cherryvale. Terry says the $2 million project would require a $200,000 investment on the city's part and provide a few different speed and price options to residents.

Terry says the projects could be completed within six to eight months. Council members will continue their review of the proposal and no action was taken at last night's meeting. In other business, the council approved closing part of Main Street on Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. for the library's End of Summer Reading Block Party and also approved the removal of a tree from a public nuisance property. The council will have a special meeting next Monday at 6 p.m. to discuss budget items.
